Dogs must be microchipped by 8 weeks and registered to the breeder. Once they are with their new owners, the microchip details can be transferred to them.
Cats must be microchipped by 20 weeks, either by the breeder or the new owners, even if they are solely an indoor cat.
Other pets such as rabbits, guinea pigs, birds and reptiles can also be microchipped (and I can do them and I recommend it), but it is not yet law.
I can chip a litter of puppies or kittens, however the mother must be seen with the litter.
If puppies have been imported or if I suspect it is a puppy farming situation, I reserve the right to refuse service. This can be done at my salon or at your home.
I use Avid as my microchipping database. They are currently the only company who don’t charge to transfer ownership from breeder to new owners.
Each microchip is £20 per pet. If you have a home visit, this is an extra charge.
